Develop: Cultivating talent and opportunities for the next generation of business.

When you surround yourself with friends and colleagues who are always striving for something greater, you all grow stronger together. Choose from our many options to learn, develop, and grow through Chamber events.

Leadership Development

The Emerging Leaders Institute was founded in 2008 to develop knowledgeable, skilled, committed, and action-oriented leaders. The participants spend their time understanding their leadership style, connecting with community leaders, improving communication skills, and essentially grooming themselves to blaze their leadership trail. Topics covered in the program are emotional intelligence, understanding community leadership, effective communication, group dynamics, group problem solving and decision making, managing conflict, valuing community diversity, building communities through partnerships and collaboration, DEI-diversity, equity and inclusion, and volunteerism.

Developing leaders has been a priority of the chamber since 1986, and the goal of the signature program, the Leadership Dalton-Whitfield program, is to develop informed leaders and channel their ideas and experiences toward community resources. Developing strong leaders will direct  a strong future for Greater Dalton. Through the monthly sessions, participants learn from top leaders about community issues and opportunities while finding their community passion and putting it into action.

Talent & Workforce Development

Educator Industry Tours

We offer these tours to Dalton Public Schools and Whitfield County Schools employees.  The Chamber takes administrators, principals, teachers, counsellors, etc. on bus tours of the entire community to grow their understanding of what we have available in our community and career opportunities for their students so they can better direct our students’ paths!

Project Purpose

This exciting program is for recent high school graduates not planning to attend college right away and looking for a full-time job. Cohort members will attend a two-week bootcamp where they hear sessions on soft skills, resume writing, interview techniques, financial literacy, quality control and safety in the workplace. Students will meet, interview and hopefully be hired by one of our local companies at the end of the program.

Red Carpet Tours

Local schools roll out the red carpet and host a tour to help community members and industry leaders understand how students are being prepared to join the future workforce. These interactive tours take place during the school day and  and share how our local schools  are educating students today.

Schmoozapalooza

Partnering with Dalton State College, this event is for DSC students to network with local employers to hear about potential internship and job opportunities. Join this event to discover future talent for your company.

Economic Development

We partner with the Whitfield County Joint Development Authority for efforts to grow our economic footprint in Greater Dalton. The JDA attracts and recruits business and industry to our community to provide economic growth and better quality of life.

Community Development

Believe Greater Dalton is the community development arm of the Greater Dalton Chamber. Believe is using research-backed strategies to make Greater Dalton a place families want to live, leaders wish to move, industry chooses to invest, and youth consider a place of opportunity.

Advocate: We work hard for a business-friendly climate so our community can grow.

'What’s good for business is good for Georgia' drives the policy and legislative direction of the Greater Dalton Chamber of Commerce, as well as the Georgia Chamber of Commerce.

Our members are deeply impacted by policies decided at the State and National level, but business owners are not always able to advocate for themselves. We take care of it for you.

We collaborate with business leaders and elected officials locally, regionally, and nationally to ensure a healthy business environment.

We are a proud member of the HUB Chamber Council, where we collaborate and pool resources with other Chambers across the state of Georgia to forge a stronger force for business-friendly policies.
